Dr. Brenda Allen


Dr. Brenda J. Allen is a communication professor and consultant who has over three decades of experience in teaching, training, and motivational speaking. She conducts workshops and presents keynote speeches on diversity, communication skills, empowerment, teamwork, and leadership. She works with a range of organizations, including corporations, educational institutions, non-profit groups, and government agencies. Among her numerous publications is a dvd on public speaking and a groundbreaking book entitled Difference Matters: Communicating Social Identity

Dr. Allen has a Ph.D. and an M.A. in organizational communication from Howard University, where she worked as an instructor of computer literacy. After completing her doctorate in 1989, she relocated from Washington, D.C., to the University of Colorado, where she advanced through the ranks to become a Full Professor and a department Chair. She currently is an Associate Dean in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Colorado Denver. 

She feels blessed to draw upon her extensive experiences to help people grow professionally and spiritually. She has been honored with accolades and awards for her dedication to serving others. In 2004, she married Theodis Hall, a human resources specialist whom she met while they both were volunteering for a charitable event. They reside in Aurora, Colorado.
