Carrie Pegues, Founder & President
Carrie Johnson Pegues is the founder and president of Wise Women Speakers Association. Founded in 2007, WWSA is the fruit of a God-given vision of Carrie's.
This woman of God was saved in 1976 after crying out to Him that she was truly lost with no roadmap to lead her out of the wilderness. She characterizes her 31 year journey in the grace and mercy of God as both exhilarating and challenging, as she has struggled to continually shake off the shackles of the world and walk in the Spirit of God. Carrie's unshakeable faith in the existence and goodness of God was cemented in her spirit when He demonstrated in a miraculous way that no matter in her life was inconsequential to Him. "After that encounter with God, I knew, that I knew, that I knew. Since that time, no one has ever been able to shake my faith in the existence and goodness of God," says Carrie. This servant of God shares that she was anointed by God in her sister's bathroom in 1979 and called to minister to women, in particular hurting women. "God wants them to know they don't have to stay there--He has a way out for them. I have been through the fire and I was singed but praise God I wasn't consumed. Everything I've experienced God allowed so I can minister to other women."
Carrie attended the University of the District of Columbia and is a conference, retreat, seminar and workshop speaker. In addition to being the founder of WWSA, she is the sponsor of a girls character development ministry, Girls of Distinction, at her home church, Greater Providence Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. Carrie retired from the Federal Government as a manager in 2004 after 35 years. She relocated that same year to Charlotte, North Carolina, where she lives with her husband Joe. They have five children they love but love having their home to themselves almost as much.
Carrie spent her adolescent and early years of adulthood looking for love in all the wrong places. After accepting Christ as Lord and Savior, "God convinced me of his love for me and I began a journey towards healing and self-love that took many years." Now, with a new outlook on life, a new husband (her first) and a new ministry, WWSA, Carrie is ready to share her message with anyone who needs hope.
