Dr. Minnie B. Ferguson Washington

Dr. Minnie B. Ferguson Washington is a native of Aiken County, South Carolina, the fifth child of the late Isadore and Mattie Ferguson. She was reared in a Christian home and from a child, knew there was something extra ordinary about her, but could not understand it until years later. She spent every summer vacation with her aunt and uncle Rev. & Mrs. B. J. Hutchinson and grandmother Emma Morris. Her uncle encouraged her to read books at a very early age which gave her a great love for reading.

She graduated from Martha Schofield High School with honors and later married at an early age and gave birth to seven children. In 1970, she and her seven children moved to Jamaica, New York and lived there until 1990. Although she was reared in a Christian home, through rearing her children and at the same time working a full time job, sometimes two, she experienced many disappointments, trials, struggles, and tests until one day she received Jesus as Lord and Savior and subsequently, received the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

In 1987, Minnie received a call from God to go and preach the gospel and began to seek His will for her life.

Led by God, she made Virginia Beach, VA her home in July 1990. Under the leadership of Dr. E. Ray Cox, Sr., she served faithfully for 15 years at New Hope Baptist Church, where she was subsequently licensed and ordained to preach the gospel ministry.

Dr. Washington spent nine years in the District of Columbia where she retired after 29 years of service for the Federal Government.

During the time spent in the District of Columbia, God instructed her to return to school. She studied for four years at the Jericho Christian Bible College under the leadership of Apostle Betty P. Peebles, and later attended the Washington Saturday college. She earned three academic degrees: Bachelor and Master Degrees in Religious Education and a Doctor of Divinity Degree.

She serves as a chaplain‘s assistant at the Correctional Facility in Virginia Beach, Virginia, ministering to the women.

Dr. Washington also served as a telephone prayer counselor at the Christian Broadcasting Network (700 Club), in Virginia Beach, Virginia, affiliated with Dr. Pat Robertson. She has been gifted by God to minister to hurting women and has taught several workshops entitled, "What to do when your hurt, hurts", "It Just doesn't hurt any more", "Wounded but God's Working", "Renewing the Mind", "Wombs of Faith Receive your miracle", "Trusting and Waiting on God", "Gymnasium of the Soul", "Joy Power", and "Parenting on Purpose".

She received a vision from God in May 2001, after God spoke to her saying, "The time has come that you should stretch out your tent for I am about to widen your territory." On Monday, June 6, 2005, The Washington Tabernacle of Prayer made its radio debut on 1600 WCPK a.m. The Broadcast can presently be heard each Friday on WPCE (1400 a.m.) from 6:15-6:45 p.m., also via internet www.wpce1400am. The foundation scripture of Washington Tabernacle of Prayer is taken from Proverbs 10:22 which says and I quote "The Blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it."

Minnie says, all of my life as I recall, I have taken care of the mother and fatherless (her 3 younger brothers), sick (mother), elderly, wounded, dying, homeless, drug addicts, and H.I.V. persons, but now realizes it was all a part of God's plan for her life in preparation for the call.

Further instructions from God revealed it was now time for her to become Pastor and Founder of Tabernacle of Prayer Church (TOPC). Her instructions were to take the "Misfits" that God would send and make them "Fit" for the Kingdom of God. The first service was held on February 5, 2006. God has blessed TOPC to have covenant partners in Africa, NY, NJ, DC, MD, VA, NC, SC, GA, MS and TX.

To quote Dr. Washington, "It is my uncompromising belief that the love of God constrains me, the peace of God keeps me, the Spirit of the Lord empowers me and the power of God delivers me." To God Be All The Glory For The Great And Marvelous Things He Has Done!
